Panagiotis Tomaras is a light and audiovisual artist whose work explores the interplay between perception, light, sound and movement. He uses a variety of analog and digital media that exploring the sensory experience through audiovisual performances, video projections and light art.

 

His personal and collaborative works have been showcased at renowned new media festivals, theaters, and concert venues worldwide, including Fête des Lumières (Lyon), ArtScience Museum (Singapore), CTM festival (Berlin), Onassis Cultural Center (Athens) , iMapp Festival (Bucharest), Rough Trade (New York), Sadler's Wells (London), Athens International Film Festival (Athens), Video Mapping Festival (Lille), Greek National Opera (Athens), Eye Film Museum (Amsterdam), Kraftwerk Berlin (Berlin), Athens and Epidaurus Festival (Athens), Photo Biennale (Thessaloniki) and Athens Photo Festival (Athens).

 

Tomaras has collaborated with esteemed artists and creators such as choreographer Russell Maliphant, opera director Francesco Micheli, multimedia researcher Chris Salter and mucisian and artist Adi Newton. The period 2013 - 2021, he was responsible for the visual and stage design of the British electronic music group Clock DVA.

As a music producer, other than composing the music for his artworks, he has released music and performed audiovisual concerts in Greece and Europe under the monikers: Biograff [2025-pre], Ψυχοτέκ (Psyxotek) [2023-25], Ηχοτοπία (Ixotopia) [2017-19] and Κυματική ΑθηνÏŽν (Kymatic Athens/ Kymatiki Athinon).


Tomaras has created commissioned work for theater, opera, dance and advertising, participating and winning awards in several festivals and competitions. Selection of his photographic work is part of the Greek Museum of Photography permanent collection.
